MediaMonkey 3.x en 4.x bevatten MP3-plugins (respectievelijk in_dsmp3.dll en in_wmp3.dll) waarmee MediaMonkey de MP3-codec van Windows kan gebruiken om MP3-bestanden af te spelen. Hoewel dit normaal gesproken zonder problemen werkt, zijn er verschillende gevallen waarin MP3-weergave kan mislukken:

  1. MP3-bestanden met slechte CRC's of anderszins beschadigde bestanden. In dergelijke gevallen kunt u proberen een alternatieve MP3-plug-in te gebruiken, zoals:

  2. Bestanden hebben een onjuiste extensie. Bijvoorbeeld, mp2-bestanden krijgen soms onjuist een mp3-extensie toegewezen. Voor dergelijke bestanden moet u de extensie wijzigen naar mp2 en de mp2-codec installeren:

  3. Als u een versie van Windows hebt die niet met Windows Media Player en geldige codecs wordt geleverd, worden er geen audiobestanden afgespeeld. Om dit op te lossen, moet u de ontbrekende codecs installeren .
  4. Als Windows Media Foundation en Audio System Services beschadigd zijn (dit is waargenomen bij sommige upgrades naar Windows 10), dan kunnen alle audiobestanden niet worden afgespeeld. Om dit te verhelpen: a) Controleer met REGEDIT of de sleutel "DependOnService" van "KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Audiosrv\" alleen "AudioEndpointBuilder RpcSs" bevat en _geen_ regel met "MMCSS" bevat. Als dit het geval is, verwijder deze dan en start het systeem opnieuw op. b) Gebruik vanaf de opdrachtprompt de opdracht "sfc /scannow" om zowel de services "Windows Audio" als "Windows Audio Enpoint Builder" te repareren als deze ontbreken of beschadigde instellingen hebben. c) Installeer het stuurprogramma van de geluidskaart opnieuw. Verwijder bestaande -> Start systeem opnieuw -> Laat Windows de standaard installeren of installeer de nieuwste versie van de fabrikant van de geluidskaartchipset (Realtek, C-Media, Connexant, ...)

Some / All MP3s Don’t Play

  1. MP3 files with bad CRCs or otherwise damaged files. In such cases, you can try using an alternative MP3 plugin such as:

  2. Files have an incorrect extension. For example, mp2 files are sometimes incorrectly assigned an mp3 extension. For such files, you should change the extension to mp2 and install the mp2 codec:

  3. If you have a version of Windows that doesn’t come with Windows Media Player and valid Codecs, then no audio files will play. To resolve, you’ll need to install the missing codecs.
  4. If Windows Media Foundation and Audio System Services have been corrupted (this has been observed on some upgrades to Windows 10), then all audio files will fail to play. To fix this: a) Using REGEDIT, verify that “KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Audiosrv\” Key “DependOnService” contains only “AudioEndpointBuilder RpcSs” and does _not_ contain a line with “MMCSS”. If it does, delete it and restart the system b) From the command prompt, use the “sfc /scannow” command to fix both “Windows Audio” and “Windows Audio Enpoint Builder” services if they are missing or have corrupted settings. c) Reinstall the Sound card driver. Uninstall existing -> Restart System -> Let Windows install default or install latest one from sound card chipset manufacturer (Realtek, C-Media, Connexant, …)
